Children’s Dietetics in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent
The Children’s Dietetic team see children from birth to 18 years of age with a varying range of conditions, including diabetes, food allergies (including cows’ milk allergy), and medical conditions requiring diet therapy.
Children and Young People with an education, health and care plan (EHCP) will be accepted up to 25 years at Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust (MPFT).
Paediatric Dietitians use the most up-to-date research on food and nutrition in health and disease and translate this into practical and understandable dietary treatment for clients and families to follow on a day-to-day basis. Paediatric dietitians can be involved in treating many nutrition related conditions including faltering growth, multiple allergies, complex metabolic conditions, gastroenterology conditions and children and young people who need to receive their nutrition by tube.
Referral criteria (the referral criteria is currently under review and may change)
- Faltering growth – your child is below the expected weight for their age or you are concerned about their physical growth (please speak to your Health Visitor or GP initially)
- Complex feeding difficulties, including children who require home enteral (tube) feeding
- Restrictive diets (fewer than 5 foods)
