VCSE

The ICB recognises the valuable role that the voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) sector plays in supporting the health and wellbeing of the population and in championing the public voice.

We have established a strong and equal partnership with the sector through the VCSE Healthy Communities Alliance, led by Support Staffordshire and VAST. This alliance formally recognises the role of the VCSE sector, and the contribution it can make across the ICS, whilst acknowledging their independence.

A Memorandum of Understanding, co-produced with our VCSE partners, is in place to support collaboration with the Alliance, and shows the willingness of both parties to work together on shared ambitions. It also sets out the shared values and details the accountability and governance arrangements.

Working with our VCSE Alliance gives the ICB a greater understanding of the different VCSE organisations in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent and how the ICB and its partners can connect with them. It also raises awareness about the contributions that organisations and groups can make to improve the health and wellbeing of the population, and helps to ensure they are included in the co-production of solutions.

Links with the sector have been further strengthened with VCSE representatives now appointed to each of the ICB portfolio boards. Healthy Community forums in north, south and east Staffordshire are meeting regularly with good attendance and active engagement from a wide range of community and statutory partners.
