Outreach

The ICS Health and Care People Team Outreach team has been created to provide support to under-represented groups and people from diverse communities across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. The team reach out to help those who are interested in health and social care careers and provide customer led support. We promote opportunities within health and care roles, particularly to those who are new to care, who may not have care experience, but do have the right core values, behaviours and passion to come into this line of work. This is in line with recommendations from the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan and other local strategies.

The Outreach team, gives information and advice about health and social care opportunities. From this, we can then help people into different outcomes such as:

Work experience

Volunteering

Employment

Training and education

We also deliver information sessions, events and 1-2-1 conversations in places such as Job Centres and community hubs. Our sessions often include demonstrations and talks from healthcare professionals, with follow on support from the Team.

Journey to Work

As part of our outreach, we work in partnership with lots of other organisations so that we can provide the best support and outcomes for all of our customers. We encourage and support personalised and inclusive recruitment by supporting individuals to be informed, confident and ready to make their first step in their Journey to Work.

Summer school

Part of our commitment to the Care Leavers Covenant (helping young people with lived experience of care into employment), we worked with AmityHub and Stoke-on-Trent College to design and create an innovative and exciting 7-week programme to support these young people (who have lived experience of care and whose first language is not English) over the summer break.
