As spring approaches, the NHS is offering eligible people across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent a spring COVID-19 vaccine.

COVID-19 is still circulating and people are still becoming seriously ill. The fact that we are not seeing it so much in the news is thanks to the impact of the largest vaccination programme ever undertaken by the NHS.

Dr Paul Edmondson-Jones, Chief Medical Officer of the NHS Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board, said: “Immunity wanes and so topping up with vaccine booster doses is essential to keeping yourself and those around you safe from COVID-19.

“As more and more people become vaccinated, we can help secure the health and safety of our communities. And now, with the arrival of spring, the NHS is calling on patients to have their spring dose, if they are eligible.”

“The spring COVID-19 vaccination will be available for those who are at increased risk from COVID-19 – people aged 75 and over and people aged 5 and over who are immunosuppressed. For more information about eligibility and to book an appointment, visit NHS website.

“Getting the vaccine not only helps protect ourselves and our communities, but it also helps prevent harmful outbreaks in the future. Please remember that you are not just protecting yourself but other people, especially those who are more susceptible.”

The National Booking Service (NBS) – available at the NHS Website and by calling 119 – will open on 5th April.

Dr Edmondson Jones added: Unfortunately there is still a lot of misinformation on social media about COVID-19 and the vaccines. Please only take your COVID-19 advice from trusted sources such as the NHS.”
