If you are concerned about your mental health, or someone you care for, you can contact your local free urgent NHS Mental Health Helpline. You can talk to someone to receive telephone support, advice or triage.

This service is here for you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for everyone.

Amparo – suicide bereavement support service

Amparo is a suicide bereavement support service which is commissioned by Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB) to support individuals and families affected by suicide across the locality.

Losing someone to suicide can have a profound and lasting impact, and timely access to appropriate support can make a significant difference in helping people navigate their grief, reduce isolation, and access both emotional and practical support.

Amparo offers free and confidential support to anyone affected by suicide, including family members, friends, colleagues, and wider communities. The service provides:

  • One-to-one support from a dedicated suicide bereavement liaison worker
  • Practical advice and guidance following a bereavement
  • Support to access local services and ongoing emotional support

Referrals can be made by professionals or via self-referral, ensuring flexibility and accessibility for those in need.
