The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB has a process for prioritising the use of the resources available to commission healthcare across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Flash glucose monitoring (FGM) and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is currently commissioned against eligibility criteria within our area.

We are aware of the updated National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommendations in their diabetes guidance and the ICB  will consider this as part of the clinical prioritisation process during 2022/23.

Please note, NICE guidelines are not statutory and the ICB must develop local policies to ensure we operate within our defined budget and achieve financial balance. In addition, the ICB considers a range of interventions across the whole health economy and therefore this process does not guarantee any changes to the current commissioning policies.

We would politely ask our patients to please bear with us whilst we complete this process.

Further information will be released when available in due course.
