What are T Levels?

T Levels are new 2-year courses within technical education designed by the Department for Education and launched in September 2020. The T Levels courses are taken after GCSEs for young people aged between 16-19 years. They are equivalent of 3 A Levels and have been developed in partnership with employers and education providers so that the content meets the needs of industry. It prepares students for further or higher education, skilled employment, or an apprenticeship.

How do T Levels work?

T Levels include classroom learning and on the job experience through placements. The qualification requires a 45-day placement within a workplace which could be in one place or a rotation across one or more workplaces, depending on the course of study.

The T Levels course includes core theory, concepts, skills, and knowledge needed for a career in the chosen sector. To progress into T Levels, students will have achieved grade 4 at GCSE.
