From David Pearson MBE, ICB Chair

It is with sadness that I announce that Peter Axon has informed the Board of his intention to leave Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB), after more than three years in the role of Chief Executive.
I am sure you will join me in thanking Peter for his service not just with the ICB but with the wider NHS in our system and beyond and wish him all the best for the future.

Peter said: “It’s been a tough decision to make to be leaving the ICB. I’ve been working in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent for the past 6 years and the wider NHS for 30 years, over half of that at Board level.

“During my time I have been privileged to meet and work with some extraordinary people, genuinely wanting to make things better for the people we serve, leading in a compassionate and inclusive way. Values and behaviours that I have always held close. Although I will be leaving, I remain truly committed to what we as the ICB are planning to achieve.”
Peter will remain with the ICB until the summer and the Board will begin the process of recruiting his replacement in the coming weeks.

Paul Brown the Chief Finance Officer of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB has decided it is time to move on. Paul has worked with the ICB and its predecessors for five years and has achieved many things in his time with us. Paul will also be leaving us in the summer, and we will be working with NHSE on the process to of appointing a new Chief Finance Officer.

Paul said: “I have enjoyed a wonderful five years working here in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. I have made many life-long friends, and I am proud of my achievements here.

“The New Year is a time for reflection, and I decided over the break that now is a good time to move on. I said to Peter that I want to work my full six months’ notice so that I can help ensure a good year end and the agreement of a plan for the next financial year. I will focus on working with my team and system colleagues to ensure that there is a strong legacy, so that the system can go from strength to strength in the future.

“My personal aim is to carry on working in the NHS on new projects with some fresh challenges. I have another three years before I retire, and I hope and believe I still have a lot to give.”
