The NHS in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent is ready to protect the most vulnerable in our community by launching its COVID-19 vaccination programme this spring.

If you’re aged 75 and over, have a weakened immune system, or live in an older adult care home, it’s time to get your booster and stay protected.

COVID-19 continues to pose a risk to vulnerable groups, and recent data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) showed that those who received a vaccine last spring were 45% less likely to be hospitalised with COVID-19 compared to those who were not vaccinated.

Eligible people can book their free COVID-19 vaccine now via the NHS App, the NHS website, or by calling 119.

Matthew Missen, Consultant Public Health at Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board, explains why this booster is so important:

“COVID-19 is still a serious threat to older adults and people living with a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment. This spring booster helps strengthen immunity and reduces the risk of severe illness and hospitalisation. If you’re eligible, please don’t wait—book your appointment as soon as you’re invited.”

Vaccinations are available at GP practices, pharmacies, and pop-up, walk-in clinics.

For more details on how to get your vaccine, visit www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/covid-19-vaccine or speak to your GP or local pharmacist. To find a local walk-in clinic visit Walk-in Covid-19 Vaccination Clinics in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent – Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, ICS

The vaccination programme will run until 17 June 2025.
