Urgent Care at Queen’s Hospital Burton (QHB)

You will be seen by our experienced midwives in the Triage Units at Royal Derby Hospital (RDH) and Queen’s Hospital Burton (QHB), from 16 weeks of pregnancy until six weeks after the birth of your baby.

Maternity Triage is open every day and is a 24-hour service. Please telephone 01332 785796 first so our experienced midwives can advise you on which unit to attend, based on your symptoms and where you are in your pregnancy.

How to access your maternity notes

If English is not your first language or you find it difficult to talk on a telephone, or if you feel it is unsafe for you to telephone, then please make your way directly to Maternity Triage.

You should contact Maternity Triage if:

  • Your baby’s movements have changed. If you think your baby’s movements have slowed down or stopped, contact Maternity Triage immediately. Do not put off calling until the next day to see what happens.
  • You think your waters have broken or labour has started.
  • You are bleeding from your vagina.
  • You have abdominal pain.
  • You are having labour pains (contractions).
  • You are feeling unwell and have a severe headache, swelling or have problems with your vision.
  • You have any other maternity related concerns.
