People have until the end of the month to provide feedback that that will help shape the services that are provided for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Stoke-on-Trent.

An online survey is now live. It will enable young people, their parents or guardians and anyone else with an interest to say what works well for them and what could be done better.

It will help determine the new Stoke-on-Trent Children and Young People’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Strategy.

The work is being conducted jointly by Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

Dr Paul Edmondson-Jones, ICB Chief Medical Officer said: “We want to improve SEND services and achieve the greatest impact for children and young people in the city. We will work together alongside children and young people with additional needs, special educational needs or disabilities, their families, and other partners.

“By replying to the survey, you can help us to develop the best services that most closely meet your needs.”

Councillor Dave Evans, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “We know that there is a lot of good work happening across schools, social care and health services, but we want to do better. We are developing a Joint Commissioning Strategy for children and young people with additional needs, special educational needs or disabilities. This will be our plan over the coming years on how, what and where we can all work together.”

The survey remains open until midnight on Monday October 31.
