Healthy Ageing is a priority for both the Staffordshire Health & Wellbeing Board, and the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System, and we want to create a plan together. The Staffordshire Healthy Ageing Partnership Group recently hosted two workshop events to help develop a plan for Staffordshire with input from a range of individuals and organisations across the community, public & private sector.

Each event featured a presentation from internationally renowned expert on ageing, Sir Muir Gray, who articulated the importance of leading physically, mentally and emotionally active lives, in order to age well.

Over 160 people in total attended the events and were invited to participate in a variety of thematic discussions, answering the question ‘How can we work together in partnership to create environments for healthy ageing?’.

Feedback from the events highlighted that a great deal of wonderful work is already happening, which we need to continue to celebrate and share with others, but there are also opportunities to do more.

Quotes from attendees

“Congrats on a great day!…It was a privilege to be a part of it”

“Well done on a fab event!”

“I thoroughly enjoyed the session’s, we had some really great conversations”

So what next?

The partnership group is in the process of reviewing all of the feedback and notes generated from both events, in order to create an outline healthy ageing plan which will be shared with the Health & Wellbeing Board and ICS over the summer.
