This Easter you can get all the help you need for a range of conditions from your local pharmacist

Community pharmacists can now give treatment and advice for a range of conditions, meaning you don’t need a GP appointment to get the help you need.

So this Easter bank holiday if you or a loved one is suffering from one of the seven conditions covered by Pharmacy First you can see your local pharmacist. The help they can give includes prescribing medications people have traditionally seen a doctor for.

Th seven conditions are:

• Impetigo – aged 1+
• Ear infection – aged 1-17
• Infected insect bites – aged 1+
• Shingles – aged 18+
• Sinusitis – aged 12+
• Sore throat – aged 5+
• Uncomplicated urinary tract infections – women aged 16-64

Pharmacist Store Manager Pritpal Gerwal has made a series of videos explaining what each means.

He said: “These are all conditions that thousands of people every day seek either a GP appointment or even attend A&E for. There is no need.

“You can get all the help you need from a clinical pharmacist like me. We are fully qualified, and will provide exactly the same service as a GP. That includes prescribing antibiotics if necessary.”
