COVID-19 Vaccination

The COVID-19 vaccination helps protect against COVID-19, which can be extremely serious for some people. The vaccination is offered to those people who are more at risk from COVID-19 and so need extra protection. This happens twice a year – in the spring and in the autumn or early winter. Like the flu vaccination, it’s adjusted to work against different types of COVID-19 as the virus changes.

Getting the COVID-19 vaccination can help make it less likely that you’ll have severe symptoms, need to go into hospital, or die from COVID-19.

It can also help you get better more quickly if you do catch the virus.

Current COVID-19 vaccination programme

COVID-19 vaccinations will be offered to eligible people from 1 October 2025. The NHS will contact you if you’re eligible.
